Two Pencil Sketches by Stuart Eldridge
A Natural Sculpture
"This afternoon passed a grand natural curiosity. A rock standing far out in the
sea, in front of a depression in the cliffs which, at least a hundred feet high, has been
moulded by the winds and waves into the majest figure of a man. My hurried sketch can give
but little idea of the wonderful grandeur and repose of this natural sculpture."
